The inception of Mangata Patisserie was a result of extensive research and study in France and Belgium. The bakery's name, reflecting a unique romantic scene in Swedish - the glimmering, road-like reflection of the moon on the night sea, was chosen to endorse the minimal lifestyle of Northern Europe. This name resonates with feelings of falling in love, delight, and romanticism, akin to a beautiful novel or a love song.
Mangata Patisserie's visual identity is a blend of uniqueness, strength, and sustainability. The brand's logo incorporates the Swedish meaning of Mangata, making it memorable yet not overwhelming. The color palette of black and gold imitates the atmosphere of the dark sea, adding a touch of mystery and luxury to the brand.
The brand's visual identity was realized through silk-printing multiple layers of gold, silver, and white on black matte art paper. The stationery system was designed to evoke a classic feeling, with the business cards featuring gold-edged painting for an elegant touch and look.
The bakery's visual identity also extends to its interaction with customers. The luxurious black vibe was a unique entrance into the Vietnamese market, creating an interesting perspective for the dessert industry. The dynamic visual system was designed to create a personal feeling for each customer, resulting in a unique interaction with the brand.
The project, which began in June 2015 and launched in August 2015, faced the challenge of introducing the high-tea concept and well-plated patisserie to a new market. However, the brand's unique visual identity, inspired by the contemporary art of plating and geometric-based concepts, helped it overcome this challenge.
Mangata Patisserie's unique design and innovative approach earned it the prestigious Platinum A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2018. This award recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that contribute to societal wellbeing and push the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology.
